Brinly "Gard-N-Cart" Replica

I've been working on a replica of a Brinly "Gard-N-Cart" for my 74-112. Slats are 1/4" x 2" x 23" long. Copied from pictures I've saved over the years & one on a CC I saw at a show. I've still got a couple of small things to do, then take it apart for cleaning & paint. ~~ grnspot

That's interesting. I've never seen the original but since it has no hydraulics it may work better if the laterals were placed on top of the supports and the nuts on the top side. It looks as though it's meant to slide on uneven ground as evident by the upwardfacing ends or skids if you will. Was the original designed thIs way?
Excellent craftsmanship by the way....is that mild steel or structural?
It's obvious that you take a lot of pride in your machine and your place. Well done.

It isn't on the floor, it sets 7" above & I'm thinking about raising it 3" more. ~~ grnspot

Very slick... and you have it about exactly the same as I recall... I had no idea what they were called but I've seen it on a Cub Cadet, It looked to be very handy, folds up as a grill guard and down as a carry all...

Ahhh! I get it now, "Guard" n cart. So they should indeed be on the bottom....for the "gard" part.

If you were closer, I could give you a wheelbarrow tub, my neighbor has 2 she wanted me to haul away...
Watch for spring farm auctions... there are always several that will sell for scrap at every farm sale I have been to... :smile:KennyV

That's excellent work -- congratulations. If you ever need extra weight to keep the front down the Gard-N-Cart would be a handy way to mount it.

If you're willing to wait and keep looking I'm sure you'll find a wheel barrow tub. It seems like the tub is usually the last thing to go -- the handles rot first if it's left outside or the tire goes flat. In Atlanta, people will throw away a wheel barrow if the tire's flat.:laughing:

I found the wheelbarrow I was needing for the "Dump Cart". :smile: Ad on local radio "Trading Post" for a 12 HP Briggs I wanted for next Winter's project. Went to look at it, was still on what was left of an old MTD Yardman mower. Looking around I saw the wheelbarrow & asked about it. Gave $80 for the engine what was left of the mower & the wheelbarrow.

Hope to get started on the dump cart by next week. ~~ grnspot
