Briggs and Stratton Engine ID Info

300e Briggs and Stratton. I looked all over that thing for the info so I could download an owner's manual. No luck. The Briggs website gives three possible locations: On a plate between the valve cover and air cleaner; above the spark plug; and above the muffler. No luck; no manual.

Some of the new push mower engines have it stamped into the side of the block. Sometimes hard to read because of paint. And some of the new horizontal engines have it stamped into the mounting flange next to the oil drain plug. Try finding that one with the engine down in a hole and everything covered in oil and dirt.

The Chinese B & S engines have it electro etched into the crank case behind the carburettor .
If your engine is on a house name, bottom end mower, good chance it has a cheapie engine made in PRC
