Briggs and stratton carb question

Hi

wondering if anyone could tell me if there should be a pipe connected to the white nipple above the flue pipe in the carb

Please supply all engine numbers and if you live in California as sometimes with the newer models, that nipple will have a vent tube attached to it. Depends on the year and your location.

The white barbed fitting looks to be for a fuel shut off valve from fuel tank to carb.
Could be wrong.
Or a fuel return hose from carb to fuel tank.

Its a uk model , 0p502 005 when i press the bulb to prime the engine it squirts fuel out , my mower dosnt start and im wondering if its anything to do with this

It is the air vent
On some it had a tube leading to a charcoal canister ( EPA regulations )

I wonder if that's the inlet for the primer hose to push air into the float bowl to prime the engine for a cold start?
