Briggs 8hp Engine with 1-1/8" Shaft?

I picked up this 8hp industrial plus Briggs engine as a replacement for my brush mower. Good running engine. When swapping it out, found this one has a 1-1/8" shaft size, and my 1" pulleys won't swap over.

Does anybody know what these were used for, or if these are in demand? First one I have seen this size on a small motor. Also, are the cranks interchangeable with the older engines? I'm debating on tearing into it and either swapping the crank out for a 1" I have, or milling down the existing one to fit. Just don't want to do so if this is a "special" engine.

Side note, the engine I could borrow the crank & parts from is a 190402 type 6144 01

you might could have a machine shop oversize the pulley to fit the crank.

Or go to a bearing shop and get a pair of new pulleys , a spacer and a length of key steel .
Pulleys have standard size bores

The problem that I ran into is that my pulley is 2.25" OD, they do not make them for a 1-1/8" shaft. There would not be enough material left if pulley was bored out.

There is a 2.5 listed in the catalog, bit seems like they are not available anywhere I have found. This would be pushing it, but may work

How thick is that pulley? 1/4"?
Also, have you checked Mcmaster-Carr for a pulley?

Pulley takes 1/2" belt

Currently measures 2.25" OD, and 1.35" in the base of the groove. If the bore size was increased to 1-1/8", then it would only leave a inner wall thickness of around 0.11". Once the key is cut out from it, there would be pretty much no wall left.

The other option now that I'm thinking of it would be to just order a bigger size, then see if I can adjust the output shaft pulley size to compensate.

Found this chart, showing the crankshaft journal sizes, and different PTO, diameters and lengths... to me it looks like the crank would swap, i'd like to see what the others think.

Some of the old Troy-Bilt 'tillers used those engines.
