Read the later part of the service information. There is a specific procedure for determining cylinder head to piston clearances. I would use only an OEM recommended head gasket. Likely, these can only take MLS.
I see what you're trying to get at, but the engine is already removed from the machine. It is completely torn down other than the camshaft which refuses to come out.With the starter removed, is there access to a flex plate with bolt for a torque convertor? I see that design quite a bit on different machines. The torque convertor flex plate bolts need to be removed, otherwise the engine will only slip back and forth on the transmission input spline shaft/ convertor stator hub.
