You don't give us alot to go on here, but if it is brand new, the engine MAY be under warranty. Going to ask a few questions before advising what to do. First, what is the engine manufacturer and engine numbers? Second, who set up the piece of equipment? Third, did the customer put oil in the engine, and what weight of oil? He may be on the hook for a rebuild, but I learned a long time ago that sometimes companies will work with consumers, when causes are questionable.

A couple of questions here. Where did the oil go with only 20 hrs. on the mower? What is a damaged shipping motor?

Me thinks you are looking for :-
Small Engine Warehouse
or
Small Engine Service
or
Replacement Engines
or
Repower
They are all the specalists discount engine suppliers I know of, but sure there will be others

Just be careful when you go to order as all of them have restictionsas to where they are allowed to ship engines to
And most of them have no warrantee and those that do will need to be installed by a factory recognised mechanic in order for warantee claims to be made
Jacks Small Engines also does some run out engines but they are mre expensive than the previously listed

Probably a shipping damaged motor AAT.
You know dents in the cowel , broken air filter housings, scratched paint & all the other ways factories get the insurance company to pay of engines that they no longer need

I know that sure sounds like a good idea but here in the states it doesn't happen that way, that I know of. I have worked for dealers and seen how it really works. Anything that is a warranty or insurance claim go's to the salvage yards and not to be resold. Now I don't know if a company some how buys this damage goods and resells it but I never heard of it. If there is a company like that, and hope the OP finds one, let us know about this company on this forum so we can all use it.

So when you buy it you buy it as is at your own risk. I don't know about that, because a scratch could turn out to be a broken case and you could end up buying a pile of junk or just a scratch and a new engine????:confused2: I would think the value would be much over salvage price because the risk would be high. I'm not very good at gambling seeing I am always the loser. Now if they give you a guarantee that you are buying what you are paying for it sounds good to me.
