I have a Yard Man. The mower runs fine in levels 5 and 6. When you try to lower the deck into 4 or below, the blades will disengage. I've already sent the mower to the shop and it's still not repared. Can anyone give me any repair information? My guy just isn't comprehending the issue.

Fire your yard man and hire someone who will work at all levels.

How about some more info? Is it a push mower?
Will you share model number...engine number etc.

Does it have a PTO switch or lever?

A yard man is a riding mower.

Look at the idler pulleys make sure they do not wobble. Most likely will be the one on the back of the deck.
No need for a engine number.

So to wrap your head around your problem.
When the deck moves up & down to keep constant distance between the engine pulley and the deck pulley , the deck must move in an arc with the center at the engine pulley.

It does not do this so the belt runs slackest around mid cut height and would jump off the deck pulley without the tensioning pulley system.
Over time the pivot points flog out which allows some twist so the belt jumps off a good pulley. A pulley with a duff bearing can twist all by itself.

This is worse on the Yardman models with the older deck that pivot from the back

Point was he was asking for info that is not really needed. And not sure he knew it was a riding mower.
