LT50 mower. Manual shows 942-05052A blades needed. They are 18”, and to long for the deck. the old ones are 17”. Anyone have any idea why the recommended blades do not fit?

Just found the 942-05052A that I received in May and they are 17.25" diagonally measured. The 942-05056A (also in stock) are 18.25" diagonally measured.

Genuine part will have it's number stamped into the top of the blade.
Aftermarket blades usually stamp on the bottom along with the words "Grass Side"

Then are you saying my MTD distributor sending out fake blades as Genuine MTD as the stamp info is on the grass side? It is the same on the 942-05052A

Interesting .
All of the original blades I have fitted for anything were stamped on the top
All of the aftermarket blades were stamped on the bottom
I had assumed that original blades are likely to be fitted by a dealer who should know which way the blades go .
Now you are going to force me to check every blade to see If I have been delluding myself

I could go out in the morning and check the Husqvarna blades but I am not right now as it is raining and lightning. Most of the other OEM mowers here are fitted with Oregon, Rotary, and A&I XHT blades.

If he is they won't need sharpening for a very long time....And if he counting on a dealer to know what he is doing he is kidding himself.
