Mine has a 14HP I/C Briggs with the cast iron cylinder liner. She's a keeper.
My series 20 has that engine. The carb was leaking through and filling the crankcase. Installed an in-line fuel shut-off and a couple of oil changes later it seems all good. Hopefully it turns out to be as solid as yours.
One of the reasons I like the Kohler is they have a spin-on oil filter. But they are stupid expensive and don’t seem to be available in this horsepower range anymore.

I'd rather have no filter like mine. Cheaper oil dumps. Millions of mowers out there with no oil filters.

Fix your carb needle and use the shut off valve.

Hi,
Well, guess I should say, bought a Snapper RER Model M, Series 19, 2003 Mower, with a B&S Power Built 9 HP Motor.

Actually wanted a bigger engine, but seems the 9HP is big enough and runs like a watch, no complaints.

If the Engine goes will just put a bigger one on but cutting grass now.

Had to shim the rear axle to take some slop out but good now, happy so far and will do a little work on her this Winter!

Thanks for the info!
