That depends on what your looking for, the Shin is a good trimmer it's a 23.9cc engine at 11.7 lbs and at $299 not a bad price. You can get the Stihl FS 90 with a 28.4cc engine at 11.7 lbs for $319 or the Fs 100 with the 31.4cc engine at 10.8 lbs for $349 . I myself prefer and run nothing but Stihl but but buying at trimmer like anything else is a matter of preference.

Go and hold a few get what feels good to you
Dont worry to much about engine size if your not going to be cutting small trees with it.

Strongly suggest husquavarna trimmers, forget what one mine is but is low end one. Love it! Has a great feel and good power. Also starts very easy. This trimmer has a good warranty aswell. Check it out :)

Might look into Redmax as well as they make nice stuff. A lot of the landscape pros around here use them..

I miss my Ryobi 790r (which I found out is an MTD 31cc , two stroke. It is temporarily down (I hope) while I fix some wear which allowed fly magnet to touch coil pickkup. Only owned one but searcing for another like it. In pictures Yardman and Weedeater have models that look like it. I paid $220 in 2002 with a bruch cutter blade. :2cents:

That's why I have a Stihl now. owned a Shin T230 and a T231. Both were great trimmers. One lasted 15 years the other about 20. Went to buy another one then found out the shop quit carrying them after Echo bought them out. Having too many problems with them. I have a Stihl FS90R now but I like Red Max also. This Stihl doesn't have the torque the Shindys had, plus it's heavier.

I don't know the answeres to your ?

But I have a Stihl FS 110 R that sees a lot of use, From normal use around the house to cutting down small trees and bushes in the woods, It always fires right up and it is run for hours at a time only stopping to add fuel or line. I have no complaints I am going on two years and many many hours on it.

I'd Buy another one of these if something were to happen to mine or if I was looking to add another.

The 4 Mix motors are different, It took me a little to get used to it, when I first fired it up I was like whats wrong with it, didn't feel like a normal two stroke wacker, but this think is like a diesel compared to a gas motor tons of low end, and after a few tanks of fuel she loosened up and does spin up some more. I think this motor is a great wacker motor has the low end to cut brush and spins just right to wack the grass and weeds and it jusr doesn't get bogged down like a lot of others this thing keeps on pulling, I am glad I got the 110 it seems to be a great balance of power and weight

That could be what's wrong with mine. Has had less than two tanks through it so far.
