Hi all, fairly novice mechanic looking for some tips.

Swapping an old B&S 15H (311777-0164-E1)
With new B&S 17.5H (31R907-0007-G1)
On my Husqvarna YTH1542 ride mower

Everything seems to line up in terms of crankshaft size, mounting bolts, etc.. with a few minor changes.

1. No oil filter on the new one, don't think it will cause any issues in regards to swapping, but figured I'd ask the experts.

2. No fuel pump on the new engine. The tank is under the hood and above the line, so in theory it should be gravity fed.. but the old engine had a pump so I'm a little concerned. If I hook up the new engine with no pump and I end up with problems, will I be able to simply take the mounting bracket off the old engine and slap it on with a new vaccum line and call er' good?

Any help is much appreciated!

Install the engine as is
It is just a cheaper specification and should work fine
The fuel pump is not necessary but if you do fit it then also swap the carbs as some of the gravity feed ones will flood when getting fuel under pressure.
The engine is not pressue feed so no oil filter is not a problem & less if you remember to change the oil at the end of every season.
