Hey everyone im 17 and in votech. working on a murray lawn mower with an unoriginal engine. its a brigs and straton 16hp. As for the carb, i went throught carb after carb today trying to find one that fits right, finally got a perfect one except it hits the oil filter. took parts from another car to make the bowl farther away from the flilter and it seems like itll work, my question is i have a couple left over carbs and thought it would be kinda cool to have a dual carb mower, any ideas, thoughts, comments, pros or cons to this idea? if u believe it wont work just tell me to save me the effort haha:tongue:
Any benefit or con to a dual carb on a riding mower?

It will work I have not done it but I have seen done. Don't know how good it worked but I would think the only thing it would do is give you quicker acceleration. I say go for it the worse that can happen is you will have fun

haha thanks i wish i could of, but with the limited amound of parts i had i realized i couldnt and ended up making a pretty simple carb, i found the answer wasnt lengthening it, it was shortening, it was getting new independent short bolts as opposed as the long binding ones. i took me about an hour to figure it out since i had so many different parts from different carbs too match, but not a single full one that worked and many were missing parts. but thanks for the advice, i still really wanna try to make one.
Multi carb set ups rely on a good manifold design...
More carburation is not in itself useful... you need a good reliable fuel air ratio for best performance ... can be tough to get right with A carb but can really be challenging with multiple carbs... Too much can result in a mixture that's too rich, or it will act like an air leak and there will not be enough air flow in the venturi of either carb to allow any fuel to be picked up... :smile:KennyV

If it were for some performance application, it might be worth the squeeze, but for a plebian lawnmower, a single is the way to go; less complex, easier to tune, etc, as KennyV indicated.:smile:
