6.5 799984 Short block engine mount bolts

Hello friends,

I am in search of engine mount bolts for the 799984 engine block for a push mower. I bought the short block as a replacement and have put everything together with the exception of the engine mounting bolts that attach the engine to the pushing contraption. The old bolts twisted off while still inside of the old block rendering them useless with the exception of one bolt. Seems as if they are spot welded at the factory on the top of the bolt when they pier through the holes. I've tried to look for the bolts and washer for mounting the engine but it seems to be a ghost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Another problem is the engine mounting holes are not threaded for the bolts, could someone please point me in the right direction on how to do this properly.

Go to your local lawn mower shop and buy self-threading bolts...they are either 5/16 or 3/8 most likely. New engines come with no threads thus...self-threading bolts!

got a hardware store nearby? Grade 8, Bolt up through the deck with washer on deck side then another washer and nut on engine side. IIRC i used a 3/8" diameter bolt on the same shortblock i replaced once but i can't remember.
i hate those self threading bolts, more so original bolts from the factory, always have one or two snap off.

thank you, I probably still would have asked lol. my abbreviations are pretty basic. I like your idea of just using a nut and bolt. but wouldn't I still have to tap the hole?

No, that's what the nut is for...use a bolt slightly smaller than the hole.

This is on a model 12 799983 shortblock., I measured and i used 5/16 diameter bolts. This is my weekly use push mower, they haven't come loose one bit.
