Ok, what's the reason to go from a vac type to a electric type pump? You won't get any better results. And vac pumps stop working if engine stalls or stops running, Vav pumps are there for just that reason!
That seems to be the missing part that many do not understand. The vac /pulse pump only works when the engine is operating because the engine pulse make it function.
An electric pump introduces problems because it does not shut down even if the engine does for other problems. If the key is in the on position the electric pump will keep going. That can be dangerous.
Along with that, these small engine carburetors do not hold back excess fuel pressure similar to the old vehicle carburetors. The carburetor float and needle components are much smaller.
A point that I failed to mention earlier, is that an electric fuel pump will also require a low-pressure adjustable regulator if it is used.
The old myth of the fuel filter should be full if it is transparent is simply not true when it comes to small engines. The volume in the filter has nothing to do with how the float needle regulates the fuel flow into the carburetor.
I know this will confound and confuse some people, but that is the truth of fluid physics. Fuel only flows according to the load demand of the engine.
A little test for people to try is put a clear filter on the pump inlet line side and then another on the pump outlet line side. See which one hold the most fuel.
I think your best bet is to wire the pump to the golf cart's main key switch. There should be a wire on the switch that gets 12V when you turn the key to "on". Just be sure to put an inline fuse on that wire for safety.
Now here is a question no one has asked. What make, model, and serial number?
As it may be wired with a start/run solenoid like the 2002 Cub Car that I rewired back last year. If so then that solenoid is only active when the driver presses the pedal. Therefore the fuel pump could be wired to it.
No way of knowing how your beast is wired without its info.

A pressure regulator wont be needed IF you install a simple fuel return to tank hose. The return fuel line will either need to have a smaller ID than the main OR insert a restrictor jet . You can make your own restrictor jet out of a piece of any fuel resistant round bar, of the appropriator OD - just drill a small hole to start and get bigger if you want to reduce pressure further. Alternatively go to on line or motorcycle shop and find a carburettor jet of the appropriate OD & jet aperture.
