Thank you all for the tips. I probably won't try to fix it just now. Might look on you tube to see if there are any carb rebuild vids. I found a great one there that walked me through replacing a dead coil on my 10552.

I agree the needle and seat is the issue most of time and would explain why it would act up running down hill.

Under LAWN MOWER FORUM is a title bar, the second says links and that is a drop down menu with "parts Suppliers" on it.
If they are there they are good reliable suppliers.

Update on this mower. Mixed in a little MMO and Seafoam in last year's gas, fired up on 2nd pull. Found another blog suggesting stuck float could be freed up by lifting rear 6" and dropping. Not sure which of these works, but runs fine now.
