No visible oil leaks. Runs as expected but I’ll check the crankcase vent. Plugs look good. I change the oil and filer once a year since I only run it maybe 10x a season.

So I bought this mower new in 2015 and it has less than 200 hours on it. I’ve been very consistent with regular maintenance. Last fall I noticed a little smoke on startup and it goes through a lot of oil. Is there any other adjustments for valves or something that I’m missing?

I had the same issue. I tried replacing the plugs, fuel filter, air filter, checked carb springs etc. I finally gave up and simply replaced the carb and the problem went away.

Getting the parts is too slow. Decided to drill out the bolt and stripped threads. Works fine with a simple bolt, washers and nut. Problem solved for about $3.00 and 10 min of work.
