    Craftsman deck exploding

Just an aside notation: A belt doesn't actually "stretch", but rather wears from the "V" side and therefore gets loose from aforementioned reason. My son had anLT 1042 Cub Cadet (MTD) that did almost the same thing. Put it away in the fall, working fine, but the next spring it kept throwing the...

    2016 X310 won't start

This may be totally off, but my x320 wouldn't start, but would run on carb spray. I checked the manual, and apparently there is some kind of emission control garbage on the engine. The fuel cap has to be turned until it "clicks", (I turned mine until I heard 2 clicks) Viola! It started and ran...

    Unintelligent people.

We used to call that a "Code77". On the old OBD code readers, a code77 was "operator error"!

    Unintelligent people.

I just finished up getting an older Lawn Boy running for a friend of my sons. When I showed him that it would indeed run, I turned the lever on the back to "heavy", which of course increased the speed. He said, and I quote " why would turning the choke on increase the speed?" Someone told him...

    X324 48" Deck Question

Probably peeing into the wind with this, but are you sure the blades on the used deck are installed correctly? I know from what the older children told me that blades can be accidently installed upside down. (OK I admit it was me)!

    Carb linkage

Come on guys! Put them back into your britches and lets move on please? This pissing contest is silly and immature. Rivets, I respect your knowledge and willingness to help, and Kirok, you could have handled this a bit better also. So what do you say fellas? Please?

JD 140 "Throttle" Handle Part Inquiry

Go to https//partscatalog.deere.com Type in your model of tractor (140) and it tells you the part number (AM31289) or (AM34838) depending on serial number. hope this helps. P.S. I usually get the part number and then do a search on Amazon or E Bay to save a buck or two.

When you see the flash from the nuclear blast You duck and cover Duck and cover We have been afraid of nuclear war with Russia since I was in first grade! That was 63 years ago! They taught us this jingle so we wouldn't be afraid of nuclear war.

Where would the world be without the USA?

Funny, but I was under the impression that this was a LAWN MOWER FORUM, not a political discussion forum. Maybe it's opposite day or something? Or am I missing the point?

Fuel gauge sending unit help needed

If you have an angled fuel tank filler cap the part number appears to be AM136610 and E Bay has them for $80.00 to $85.00 If it is the straight filler the number is AM 132755 and that appears to be the one that takes all the other parts and is very expensive. Keep watching E Bay or try to find...

    John Deere charging (NOT)

Hi guys! I have a John Deere 180 with the Kawasaki engine. The charging system is giving me fits! I put the body pan on, and managed to pinch some wires due to incorrect routing of same. This caused a "no crank" condition that was corrected by removing the body pan and re splicing some pinched...

    John Deere wont energize starter

I have a John Deere 180 with the Kawasaki engine. I changed out the dash with one from a donor tractor and after I connected the wires, I checked to make sure the engine would crank and lights, pto., etc would still work. Everything was fine. After buttoning up the dash. I tried to start and...

BR 400 blower leaking gas like a sieve

That is exactly what you need. The problem lies either in the tan colored membrane with the two flaps I was talking about or the needle valve is sticking. both items are in that kit. like I said pay close attention to the disassembly and you should see good results. Good Luck!

BR 400 blower leaking gas like a sieve

The diaphragm is what I was talking about. There are two flapper valves that seal on one side when the other is open and vice versa. They aren't difficult to rebuild as long as you watch the order of disassembly closely. ( take pictures) The rebuild kit will probably fix the problem, and you are...

BR 400 blower leaking gas like a sieve

The carb on a 2 stroke engine has two "flapper " valves that serve as fuel pump and feed for the engine. After a few years these valves can get brittle to a point that they don't seal the gas anymore. You have two options. (1) rebuild the carburetor. or (2) Replace the carb. The fact that the...

    MTD Yardman Pulley Removal.

I just went through the same problem. Pry bar above the pulley while using impact hammer on side of pulley boss. Do yourself a favor and use anti seize on crank where pulley mounts. Will make it much easier next time.

    Engine kubota diesel

Hi Guys! First let me thank everyone for the advice with the whining noise on my 1622 grasshopper mower. Turned out to be a combination of too little torque on the pto clutch, and an improperly balanced engine to transmission shaft. Fixed with a dial indicator and a torque wrench. Now to the...

Engine howling at low engine speed

Hi Guys! I put the engine back into my 1622 after rebuilding. When I started it up I noticed a howling noise at low engine speed. It seems to be coming from the disc couplers that connect engine to the transmission. Noise seems to go away at wide open throttle. (or else the engine noise is...

    Buying Advice 820 Grasshopper

I have an opportunity to purchase an 820 Grasshopper but can find zero info on it. The Mower shop website doesn't list one. Supposedly it is an 1984. Anybody? Also my current project of restoring a 1622 model (1985) is progressing nicely. Drives rebuilt, and frame painted and all wiring redone...
