    Grass and dirt covers operator

Technique can make a big difference in how much debris gets blown back on you. If you're not already doing this, keep the discharge chute pointed downwind as much as possible. Take note of the wind before you start mowing a section and mow into the wind and downwind, not crosswind. This will...

I need a riding mower that can handle tall weeds

If you're going to mow it every two weeks, it'll only be 5' tall once. Hire somebody to bale it. If it's good enough to feed to animals, you can sell the bales. If not, pay somebody to haul it off. You've got to get rid of the cuttings. Then a regular mower can handle it.

Why NOT to use Seafoam in your mower oil.

I don't use any of them but Seafoam makes several different kinds of additives. Some for fuel; some for crankcase.

Where would the world be without the USA?

Where were nuclear weapons created? In the minds of men, mostly non-Americans. United States Russia England France China Israel India Pakistan North Korea and soon, Iran It is not as if the USA created something that otherwise would never have been invented, because most of the people on...

Where would the world be without the USA?

Who's? If you're trying to place blame on the USA for the creation of nuclear weapons, you'd be right for the USA furnishing the place and funding for mostly-European scientists to finish the work they had already started. That genie was going to get out of the bottle one way or another...

Where would the world be without the USA?

No, what I said was that no one is under any obligation to remain a US citizen or live in the USA if they don't like it and think there are better places to live.

Remove the valve cover from the dead cylinder and see that both valves are operating properly.

    ? Vapor lock?

You should not be getting raw fuel coming out of the spark plug hole. Check the needle and seat in the carburetor.

Where would the world be without the USA?

One thing about it, if one decides that the grass is greener in some other country than it is in the USA, there is nothing keeping him here.

Welcome to the forum, but embedded links on your first post may not be a good idea. I'm not going to click on it; maybe others will but I'd recommend they not. If there's another way of posting the info contained in that link, I'd do it.

Does this machine has a 4 cycle engine or 2 cycle one?

And sharpen and balance the blade.

Does this machine has a 4 cycle engine or 2 cycle one?

4 cycle. Your tune up probably should include a new air filter, spark plug, oil change and removal of the fan housing to clean the cylinder cooling fins and investigate that oil leak. It looks like if this has ever been done, it was a long time ago.

    My Mower Story

It's probably a wise decision to buy a pair of mowers these days, given the situation with parts unavailability caused by planned as well as unplanned obsolescence.

    How would you fix this?

Plus, some aluminum alloys are not weldable at all. Those that are weldable have to be welded with shielding gas, whether from a tank or through the electrode. JB Weld is nothing but epoxy with metal powder mixed in. Epoxy does not like heat. I think the backing plate with the broken off...

We all run on used parts....

That's good planning. Did you replace the pump with an OEM pump or a parts house or a Chinese replica? Don't give up on preventative maintenance, even though this time it may have caused the very problem you were hoping to avoid.

    Tecumseh...No crankshaft marks...oh the tears!!!

FWIW, there is no such thing as a 'generic car engine pic.' There is nothing on that picture that says it is. It's the end view of a cam on a 4-cycle engine, period.

Do suspension springs help a lot?

If you have a roll bar, you're supposed to wear the furnished seat belt. No roll bar, no seat belt installed. The idea must be to get thrown clear of a hot machine that will pin you to the ground.

    Valves

Yes, I know that. The OP said "I noticed that the intake and exhaust valves are opening at the same time." The key word is "opening" which means (to me) that both valves were moving in the same direction at the same time. That, I'd like to see.

So far, I still don't know what mower you bought to mow your two acres. A 52 to 54 inch mower should handle two acres with ease. What problems are you having with your mower preventing that from happening?

    Kawa Fr600v >100hrs already trashed

If the original filter from the factory was defective or improperly installed, you HAD a case for factory warranty work at that time. Did you file a claim then? If not, and you've replaced the air filter several more times, I doubt if you still have a valid claim. Additionally, obsessing over...

    Tecumseh...No crankshaft marks...oh the tears!!!

See the red vertical line. It represents the cam position when the crank is at top dead center and the cam is almost finished closing the exhaust valve and beginning to open the intake. With the piston at TDC, that red line needs to go through the centerline of the valve lifters. In this...

Multimeter recommendation for riding mower troubleshooting

The thing I use a multimeter for most on lawn mowers, etc., is continuity. Make sure the audible function is loud enough that you can hear it clearly and reacts instantly to a complete circuit. That was what I liked about the Velleman. I'm on my second Klein and neither one reacts instantly...

What grease should I use on lawn mower steering joints?

I use two kinds of grease--Mobil 1 for high speed applications, like mower blade spindles, and regular grease for wheels and steering linkages, etc. Mobil1 runs about $10 a tube; the other $2.

Multimeter recommendation for riding mower troubleshooting

The clamp meters are for measuring amperage. Multimeters can only measure up to about 10 amps because they're actually measuring amperage. Above that, you need the clamp meter. They sense the magnetic flux around the wire carrying current..

Bad cylinder on my VTwin 24.5 hp ?

I may be misunderstanding you but it sounds as if you're surprised that oil was found under the valve cover. This is NORMAL. Your own diagnosis indicates the bad cylinder is the LEFT cylinder, not the right. Take the valve cover off the left cylinder and rotate the engine by hand through at...

Kohler initial oil change - filter, too?

Not after only five hours of use. At five hours, you couldn't have filled that filter with manufacturing debris. Leave it on let it do a better job of filtering than a brand new filter would do.

    Predator engine

If it sounds "exactly as if it ran out of fuel," that's probably what it did. When warming up, even at fairly high speed, the engine isn't using a lot of fuel. So the problem could still be with fuel supply. One way to find out would be to remove the air cleaner. Start the engine, warm it up...
