Titan 54" zero turn banging noise at deck start up

Tried it at full throttle today and no banging. Tried it at lower throttle and had very little. Not sure why the difference between days. Maybe because it had been sitting all winter. Anyway, I will use full throttle and hope that solves the problem.

Titan 54" zero turn banging noise at deck start up

Have a Titan. About a year old. Got it out today for the first time this season to mow and the deck makes several loud bangs at startup. I did some investigation and it is the belt tensioner hitting the stop. It happens a couple times even with the engine at about 1/3 throttle but worse at...

    Dual charging system overcharging

I looked at my older mower with regulator and it is mounted to a bracket off the dipstick tube. I thought it mounted to the engine case but clearly not. Some of those posted look like plastic. Think the one on the older mower is metal but would have to look again to be sure.

    Dual charging system overcharging

Yep. That looks like the regulator I need. Meant to post the number. On testing the diode - if the ground of the stator is bad the test may show open. Diode failure mode is to short. If there is enough current after it shorts it may open. Yes, mine is the dual system with one winding for...

    Dual charging system overcharging

I was thinking of replacing the stator but if I can just add a regulator that would save the work of pulling the flywheel. Stators and regulators seem to be fairly readily available and the cost for the Briggs regulator for this one at about $50 is close to the cost of a stator and higher power...

    Dual charging system overcharging

I looked at the engine and expected to find a mounting spot like on my older one with regulator but there is no hole to mount it. Looks like I would need to make up a bracket but there don't seem to be many bolts in the area to even fasten a bracket.

    Dual charging system overcharging

Have a Briggs engine on a riding mower which seems to destroy a battery every year or two. The last one died within the 6 month warranty. In looking into the charging system my older rider had a regulator and this one only has a diode to convert the output to DC. Really poor design IMHO as an...

Toro Titan seat switch connector came loose. Common problem?

The part of the connector that retains it - what I think you are calling the snap clip - appeared to be intact. I am guessing it may never have been fully seated. I was thinking I might just pull things apart enough to see for sure and fully seat it but it is more work than I expected so going...

Toro Titan seat switch connector came loose. Common problem?

Have a couple month old Toro Titan with my ride seat. Unit has quit a couple times and suspected the seat switch. When I looked at it I found the connector had fallen off. It was fairly hard to get to the switch without taking the seat but I didn't see any obvious damage to the connector...

What's this Lawnboy model? Operation at steep angles?

I am looking to pick up a 2 cycle lawnboy for mowing some steep hills since 2 cycle won't have any issues with lack of oil that a 4 cycle would... Have been looking around and seen a few Duraforce models but also saw some issues that made me think that might not be the best choice. Don't have...

Mower deck Short deck belt life - poor idler pulley alignment

I have a DYT4000 with 42" deck. Model 917.27364. It chews up a belt about every 2 months although 1 only lasted about 8 hours. It seems to be ripping parts out of the belt and breaking it rather than usual wear out. I run B94 gates belts. I had the belt jam in the electric clutch once but...
