Thanks for this too, sir. Love real world evidence. As you note, pressure can pop the rubber seal out ... I have the same distrust of the zerked spindle. A benefit of the ZZ shield is that pressure just forces grease out ... as designed. A nice distinction.

Thanks for the cite. I didn't anticipate this being so difficult. Here's a pic of the actual culprit. I was able to get a couple from AutoZone. They came in a brown carton labeled "Agricultural Bearings." $4. each. They are 2RS ... which led to my original question.

Let me try again. "For ref, the spindle brg is a 6305. the wheel brg is 499502." The 499502 is from a zt front wheel. It's a Bad Boy but so what? I am asking just the one simple question in the title: Are Actual SEALED bearings Available? No offense intended Star Tech, and you've been helpful...

At 200 hours, routine maintenance has found a spindle and a ZT front wheel bearing that need help. I am familiar with the current rubber shielded bearings. And I'm assuming that the ZZ designation has double metal shielding. If the shields are removed, one can see the bearings ... that ain't...

So, bearings don't come with much grease ..........and that's OK. Kinda hard thing to relearn. I have back up spindles without Zerks. Think I'll jsut leave them as is.

Couple of thoughts: Somewhere in Timken literature, the term used was "shield." This makes more sense than "seal" when grease/water/dirt can get around whatever is covering the bearing retainer. I read Bert's post #7, just above, as the ZZ actually is a sealed bearing, as in nothing gets in or...

Mine's still running fine at 170hrs but my question is: Is there anything I can to to pre-empt failure? I've read of a work around with the starter so you can keep using the engine IF the parts fall harmlessly in to the sump. But engine becomes junk if the parts hit other parts. I haven't seen...

I can stand up straight. Without the Grip, I have to lean over to hold the D handle (and doubtless pick up some weight).

I missed something before, the Grip is bolted to my trimmer attachment on the Stihl Kombi, and stays there. When I put the edger attachment on I haven't noticed a need for the additional handle as I can generally use the edger one-handed while walking straight up once in the groove.

Update review: I'm buying stock in the company. I kept screwing around with adjustments and now that the Darwin's Grip is dialed in, it's a gamechanger. Zero weight on the arms, back straight, I'm back to feeling like the Terminator on weeds. I bounce that string way out and let that big dog...

My Stihl KM111 is a 4 mix. It's an overhead valved gas engine but drinks 50:1.

If I recall correctly my stihl kombi came with an additional straight handle. Long gone. Now I get it. That said, the Darwin is the next iteration. With the harness, you're not holding any weight. No matter for the young and dumb but me? I'm liking it.

I've owned a bunch of mowers. Never had a problem finding a belt. Sunbelts look really good but they measure diff as noted above. I'm sure glad I don't really need one atm.

I loves my edger attachment. As regards balance, you need not reach down to the D handle, this handle comes to you in an aspect that doesn't encourage weight bearing.

It weights grams ounces and changes the balance in a positive way for me. I'm going to paint the thing. It screams "please ask me wtf this is." I'd guess it's very similar to those commercial bicycle bars with a throttle.

Yeah, got the stihl double harness and stihl Km111 kombi. 14 lbs. The Darwin handle makes a lot of difference.
