Most of the time that clicking is the failure of the solenoid. Two things to check: make sure the engine turns freely by hand (sometimes the starter gear can jamb). if it does, try to jump the starter. get a screwdriver and put it across the two large posts on the solenoid. If the starter turns...

    No spark Briggs Intek 20HP

The other engine is a single cylinder. This one is model 407777 0174E1

    No spark Briggs Intek 20HP

Compression good both cylinders. Getting fuel, pump working, plugs get wet. I have another Intek in the shop with bright spark. I wish I had another flywheel to try. Key was good when I removed the flywheel. It'll crank but won't even try to fire. Coils are completely unhooked, can just barely...

    No spark Briggs Intek 20HP

I used an inline spark tester, you can barely see the indicator light up. I tried the tester on another machine, bright as day. New plugs too, but the coils aren't putting out the bright spark.

    No spark Briggs Intek 20HP

I'm working on a Briggs Intek 20HP on a Craftsman LT2000 rider. It has VERY weak spark on BOTH coils. I've unhooked the kil wires from both coils and still weak. Replaced one coil to try, still weak on that one. With all wires disconnected, I would think it would get spark. Flywheel magnet is...

    Won't shut off!

The coil will shut off if I wire it direct. It doesn't look like a switch is there. It's literally wired to a nut on the back of the brake puck.

    Won't shut off!

I have a Toro mower with a Kohler 149cc engine. It had water in the fuel, etc and would not start. I cleaned the fuel system and it started right up, but now it won't shut off when the safety bail is released. I removed the shroud to check kill switch and found a strange set up. Wire from coil...

[Mechanical Issue][Help] John Deere D130 engine wont turn over

It could be the starter seizing up, or the valve lash is incorrect, so the compression release system isn't working correctly when it cranks.

    No spark right side 425

Oops, sorry to fat finger. FC620D. I wasn't sure if the igniter could only fire one plug, thanks for the answer. Any other item in the circuit I should be concerned about?

    No spark right side 425

Hello all, I have a JD 425 with the FC420D engine. It has no spark on the right side. Replaced the coil, still nothing. Can the ignitor run only one side, or is it completely good or bad period? What would the next step be?

It worked! Quality control is a little off at B&S!! Thanks so much for the help!

Mr. Briggs and Mr. Stratton! LOL. I'll reverse them and try it.

    Briggs Intek coil issues

So I plugged the wires into the coils. I get .546 in diode mode on the DMM with the RED lead on the "ground"end of the harness, and the black lead on the coil terminal. Reversing the leads gives 0L. Thanks a bunch for the help so far.

    Briggs Intek coil issues

I measured the harness, .68 one way and 0L the other way on both diodes using the diode setting on my DMM.I don't understand why this won't shut off...

    Briggs Intek coil issues

Not sure what you mean by 1 then 2 or 2 then 1? The harness only goes one way, unless you mean order of connection? (coils then harness to tractor or vice versa). Do you think Briggs would mess up the diode direction?

    Briggs Intek coil issues

I got the harness directly from Briggs. That's why I'm stumped.

    Briggs Intek coil issues

Each individual col will short out on its own. It's when I plug into the diode harness that there is always spark.

    Briggs Intek coil issues

Not sure what you mean about hooking the harness up both ways? It does have the diodes. I've tried directly grounding the engine harness to ground with a jumper wire, and both coils still have spark. The key switch does shut the carb solenoid off as that's the only way the machine shuts off at...

    Briggs Intek coil issues

Would aftermarket coils not work properly with that diode harness?

    Briggs Intek coil issues

The coils are good, they spark all the time. If I short each coil individually, they kill out. It's when I have them hooked to the engine harness that they don't kill.

    Briggs Intek coil issues

Thanks, I replaced that small harness to the coils/solenoid. It still won't kill spark when I turn the key off. I disconnected the engine harness again, got a jumper to keep the fuel solenoid energized. I went right from the black coil wire to ground, still had spark. I'm lost!

    Briggs Intek coil issues

Intek Twin in a JD 140D Model 445577. Found that someone disconnected the coil ground wires so the mower would just shut off after the fuel solenoid cut off the fuel. I reconnected the ground wires to the coils and no spark. I disconnected the engine from the tractor harness, still no spark. SO...
