so much confusion on Kawasaki oil filters.

In the summer of 1974 i worked at a small airport as a ramp tramp in the maintenance shop. I changed lots of oil in lots of small planes. Most didn't have a filter but rather a fairly coarse screen that might stop fine sand. I asked the head mechanic why no filter. He said dirty oil under...

Ferris IS3000Z new coil - no spark - How do I find a dead short

Just went through something like this on a 731. The original coils on older engines have internal diodes. The aftermarket coils don't have diodes. Not 100% sure but the internet says the new OEM coils don't have diodes. I had a bad coil and couldn't get a new non diode coil to work with the...

    Problem seating tire on rim

The best thing i have found to cut thhose rock hard tires is an oscillating tool with a hooked carpet blade. I cut the tire rubber off close to the bead then cut the wire bead with a cutoff wheel. But usually i can break stubborn beads with the floor jack and the hitch on my truck.

    Problem seating tire on rim

I change quite a few tires. I have the HF manual tire changer and the mini tire changer. I have a bunch of tire tools, tire soap, bead sealer, bead blaster, plus other stuff. I don't enjoy changing tires but it's not hard with the right tools and you learn a lot of tricks and tips.

    Cub cadette pto removal problem

If you have an air hammer get a bolt that fits the crank threads and drill a divot in the head. Install the bolt in the crank with the head against the end of the crank. Use a pointed bit in the air hammer on the bolt. Never had one i couldn't get off in just a few seconds.

    Cylinder honing opinions

Anything with an aluminum bore i don't bother with. I do use a ball hone on cast iron liners to add a slight cross hatch to seat new rings in a std bore. Not worth trying to hone to oversize piston and rings.

    John Deere Z425 Transmission problems

There are 3 versions of drives on the z425. 2 have separate wheel hydros and one has a central pump and wheel motors. If you have the one with the goofy angled pulleys double check the release isn't pulled on the hydro. That is the fun one to change the belt on.

IS500z: Fix or replace engine or mower

The chineese carbs are getting better. If a honda or a honda clone comes in with carb issues i just order a $15 carb. I have changed dozens and they work just fine. IS500z: Fix or replace engine or mower

There isn't a single mower shop around me that will open an engine. Not even for a simple sump gasket. They don't do valve jobs either they order a new head. New 'garden' tractors

Back in the 70's the difference between a garden tractor and a lawn mower was that a garden tractor was rated for ground engaging implements such as a plow or disk. The Cub Cadets and Sears ST and Suburban series and others were built like small tanks. Nothing today is built like those were.

Here is a pic of a bare block. The plate with 4 screws is the breather. Usually when they leak the air off the flywheel blows most of the oil down the left cylinder. You need to remove the intake manifold and the flywheel to get to it.
