This one has me stumped/6.5 hp quantum

out of curiousity - if u grab the air filter housing and try to wiggle it, does it move?? I ask becase I have had a few where the tube that goes from carb to block by the muffler was cracked. Coincidence, one was a power sprayer motor... Also, did u check the rubber seal that seals the tube...

    bolt broke off

I have a quantum mower motor where 2 bolts that held it to the mower deck broke off in the engine sump. I never had to extract this so for anyone who did - is it a pain to remove(I assume heat it up wiht a torch and whack the bolt) so is it worth the trouble?? TIA.

    There's your problem

On a related note- Do you think i need to replace this air filter??? Reminds me of the Simpsons where the house is majorly sinking. The repair guy puts his level on the wall and it slides off. He says "I think i found the problem" or something to that effect.

    Old BR430 problem

Yeah Fish, I tried that. when i slide the kill switch, it pushes the ball right out . In response to another response, with the loose cable, the carb goes back to idle so it isn't because of cable binding. Oh well, I'll keep looking. I have another blower and mostly keep this one because it is...

Just heard today that Black and Decker / Stanley bought MTD

    Gas tank threads shot

I found a briggs gas cap online and with pliers was able to somewhat straighten out the threads. I borrowed a cap from another old beater and the threads are catching. I still need to try something to fix the not smooth edge of the tank or else gas splashing around will come drooling past the...

    Old BR430 problem

Thanks. My problem is in part 1. In the "candy cane" shape slot, the ball sits with plenty of slack. I tried lifting the end to hook the top of the "candy cane" but as soon as I slide the kill up, it pushes the ball out of the slot to just sit there and back to step 1 again. So im not missing...

    Old BR430 problem

I have a problem\question on the trigger. It starts but when i squeeze the trigger nothing happens. I opened it and see a slot but nothing to catch the "ball" at the end of the cable. Can someone post a diagram so I can see what is supposed to be pulling the cable when i squeeze the trigger?? TIA.

    Gas tank threads shot

Scrub gave me an idea(Thanks Scrub) of using a "stick" adhesive being it is harder so i think would hold its shape easier than goo. These threads are really messed up and the fact it is a tiller so it will bounce around and splash under use. Ill try the stick in a few days. Thanks Guys.

Is there money to be made by working?

Personal advice - don't buy the mowers to fix and sell. Doing so, as u learned, parts kill any profit. The ones i get\fix\resell, I only pick up if complete and decent looking as a minimum. Although if the engine looks and pull feels good, then get it only to remove and test\cleanup\sell the...
