I have a John Deere X324 machine and usually have it leveled so it will cut as high as possible so I get a really high cut to keep my small pasture grass/weeds under control. If I bring the adjusting nuts to high the mower deck will bump the frame and it's difficult to unlock from transport...

I apply gasket sealer to a clean valve cover flange, next apply the gasket, pin it down to a flat surface overnight, next day when installing the valve cover the next day, only use grease or petroleum jelly on the engine side of the valve cover gasket. When checking the valves in the future...

I agree with your statement! I don't think the starter is bad. I think that is normal in this case, it has no engagement with an opposing gear to keep it at the top end/extended position of the motor shaft, therefore it is slipping back down to the retracted position. Thanks, Douglas Lee *
