If you replace it with a different manufactures engine you have to replace the muffler as well. FX and FT are Kawasaki's commercial engines. FT series max hp is 24, FX max hp is 38.5. FX large engines are pretty big would have to make sure it will fit. Briggs Vanguard is an awesome as well.

You cannot run straight 30W in the Kohler Command series engines if you do the lifters will rattle.

I use the Kawasaki 10W-40 Oil in my CV20 Kohler. No problems. It looks like some of the engine manufactures are going to a higher multi viscosity oil especially in the summer heat to lessen oil consumption. Do you know what the W stands for?

Never ceases to amaze me why the manufactures use rubber gaskets on the fuel caps instead of neoprene gaskets. Like I always say you can educate ignorance, but you can't fix stupid. Oh yes for water in the fuel system use Sea Foam.

You might try Lucas Hydraulic Oil Booster and Stop Leak. It thickens up the oil in the hydro and Lucas recommends a 20% mix. I have use it at 30% with no problems.

I don't think that engine has a compression release. Manual says the engine with ACR is a pull start. What cold cranking AMP Battery do you have? If it is a 230 cranking amp battery it is too Small. I would get the biggest one I could find and try it.

You measure the blades from cutting tip to cutting tip not straight down the length of the blade.

Why would you run the engine without the blower housing? For any extended time. That would be like running your car without coolant in the radiator. The blower housing directs the air from the cooling fins on the flywheel over the fins on the cylinder to cool the engine.

Model type and code so we know what you have. If it is a single cylinder, it is probably valves out of adjustment or broken compression release on the cam shaft.

Switch them around and see how they line up. If they are still off, you might be able to shim the spindle to compensate for the difference.
