I just swapped starter out and it went away and starts a lot better. Whew.

The manuals for both engines show the exact same diagrams so I guess I can just use the original bracket and xt1 cable.

Do I need to swap that bracket out? Can I just hook up the cable somewhere different?

How do I find the compression stroke when there's no compression? Im not good at valve adjustment at all.

Ok. So everything seems to be fine as far as opening and closing on both heads. At no time do the rockers ever get loose when fully open like you would find on a Briggs OHV, so Im assuming valve adjustments?

Hello, again. If no compression on either cylinder but pistons still move in and out, what does that mean? I see what looks like fresh sealant on both valve covers? What steps should I take next? Has 142 hours on it.

Nevermind. I got it. I just touched some doohickey thingamabob and it works now.

The rod is hooked up but when I push in parking brake and down on the set lever under steering wheel, the brake doesnt stay in and the lever wont stay down. I dont feel it trying to grab either. Thoughts?
