Agree about warranty. I still have a old Flathead Briggs on the 22" push mower. It still runs fine, it is beginning to show it's age tho, but still doing the job. Many here say the new Briggs are from china & have lots off issues with them.. If I have to get replacement, I would want a Honda...

Neighbor has a Simplicity Courier 42/23 w/ Briggs on it. I service it for him. That Briggs has oil weeping from about everywhere there is a gasket. That started before 8 hours on it. I told him to take it in for Warranty. But he didn't. Simplicity has been around since I believe about 1939...

Cpurvis- I think they should come that way with the 2 stage filter set-up. Best mod I did on mine to date.

Neighbor has a 23 hp Briggs that has the green pre-filter on it stock. But he doesn't do much cleaning on it.

Still going ok. Running Win 10 pro, & Fox 87.0

Perhaps a visual will help some too. Remember a slight turn makes a big difference. I use a black sharpie to mark the original location of the nut & stud on both sides. Then you can always go back, if you need to.

I'll second Toro® as well, since mine is one. So my answer 'may' be slightly biased. But almost 7 years since I bought my Toro new & not a single regret.

I don't see any Big update from MS, just the regular daily updates.

Not currently seeing or having that issue. Spoke too soon. Logging out showed this, but strangely not logging back in... PHP 7.0.0 or newer is required. 5.6.40-0+deb8u4 does not meet this requirement. Please ask your host to upgrade PHP.

One thing worth mentioning, IMO. Most all bottles have a date code on them. I only get the freshest oil/mix I can. If a bottle sits UN-opened for 5 years, I'll give it away. And any opened & re-closed, after a year MAX, I replace. Oil doesn't go bad, but the additives can & do.For that...

Pinkchick- Don't expect too fast of replies to this thread, it was from Nov 25/ 2012 My gas / mix Shindaiwa revs to 10,000 rpms. And is smooth as glass.

I hand file & balance my blades as well. Plus have an extra set, always ready.

Put jumper cables on it from another battery & re-test starting. But if yours is under warranty, be careful what you attempt at home.

Old craftsman hydrolocked on me long ago, I removed the spark plug & hit the key, gas shot out like crap thru as goose. I changed the oil a couple times after I got the piece of crud outta the carbs' needle valve, & added a shutoff petcock.

After fixing the original problem, I find it prudent to add a gas shut-off valve in the gas line before the carb, for peace of mind.

I hear ya Bert, I designed mine to not have to remove any additional bolts at all for blower housing removal, just loosen the (1) hose clamp at the carb as every one needs to do to remove blower housing. If I had ROPS, I would still prefer the way I did mine. I think it looks like it came that...

Or..... as I did, mount it directly to the blower housing, so blower housing removal is still a breeze w/Donaldson still attached. Just need to remove hose at the carb, like they all do. PS: And depending on your altitude, you may have to re-jet..... I did NOT have to do this on mine tho.

Actually taking a compression test can help. 1st) a dry test. 2nd) add two squirts of oil in spark plug hole & re-test. Compression will be higher, but if it is very much higher, then valves are not the only issue. Aluminum sleeve blocks do wear easier. What happens to the valves is they beat...

During mow season, I just use my floorjack & jackstands.. But during winter storage, I made 4 wheel dollys for it, that I put my z on. I can pull it out to do whatever on & later just push it back in it's place.

I'm aware 300 hours is a recommendation, + I have NEVER used auto oil in my Kawasaki. Oil I use has 1,200ppm of zinc in it. And exceeds JASO specs ..
