I had an open trailer for several years and spent a lot of money on commercially made brackets to hold the smaller equipment. With all that I still had to cut, weld, and modify the expensive brackets to make them work for my equipment. All this time I had a car hauler cargo trailer which was too big to haul around for lawn care so I bought another cargo trailer which is a 7'X14' with a ramp door and extra height. I sold the open trailer with some of the big dollar equipment racks. I did have to make and or modify some wall mount supports to hang my small equipment, but the real deal is that I put the equipment and machines in the trailer and close the ramp, no weather problems, no security problems, and a cargo trailer is the way to go!! I'm about to buy a new trailer and it will be a 7'X16', ramp, extra wide side door, and extra height. I'm not a tall guy but I don't like banging my head when going out the side door, thus the extra height. Although my car hauler/cargo trailer is wider, I prefer the 7' wide trailer as I don't have to deal with the wheel wells.
