having a prob with grass building up on the deck of my jd-gt245--54 inch cut- have to put up on lift every second usage and remove the grass build up with scrapper blade or bar and hammer, it is packed so tight- first mower i have ever had that did this- any ideas on how to aliviate this . I am not cutting wet grass and the blades are sharp- cutting at 3.5 inches so not trapping it. got to be something that works. thanks-------this is getting to be pain in lower extremities:mad:

You can spray PAM cooking spray on the deck to keep grass from sticking. And since it is a cooking oil based product, it is bio-degradable so it son't harm the grass. The bad thing is you will have to spray the deck every couple of uses.

I would try the Pam first. We always grease our mower deck up before we use it each Spring and then again throughout the mowing season. It also helps to not cut the grass when it's wet at all. Wet grass builds up quick.

Some decks just tend to clog more than others. My Dads 10,000 dollar Scag clogs pretty badly. My 4,000 dollar Dixon can mow under any conrditions even in the rain and not clog, it will throw out clumps sometime if it's wet, but hardly any buildup.
Seems lime they could get the deck design down by now.

Check out the Meg-Mo blades - my deck has less build up since I put these blades on - they kick back like bush hog blades if you hit anything and they have more lift and throw things out the shute farther.

I just ordered a quart of Wilmar's CLEAN DECK. It is a graphite based undercoating. I will let you know how well it works once my "Crapsman" is up and running again.

Use GATOR blades on it if they are available for you tractor. GATOR blades mulch the grass to smaller pieces.
