Hustler Barn Find

Well I got the Kohler going this afternoon. Good sign. Had to replace some fuel lines that were leaking fuel out/air in and needed a good big, freshly changed battery to overcome the initial reluctance of not starting for several (?) years.

Now that I know its a goer, I have given it a basic oil & oil filter change - will only run it for a short time before replacing the oil & filter again. Original oil very very black & smelly.

Have removed the engine again, to facilitate replacing some of the transmission hydraulic hoses that appear to have been leaking.

Will test transmission, when I put the engine back in - if it works will replace transmission oil & filter. Fingers crossed.

HELP!!!!!!!

I don't have the Hustler or Kohler Model or Serial Number of my barn find.
The engine may be a Kohler CV 745 (FI) 27-30 hp.
The back end of my machine is identical to the above photo.
I need to replace the muffler. As far as I understand, it's Hustler part NOT a Kohler BUT because I have no details, I can not source the new unit.
If someone on the Forum can give me either their identical Hustler Model /Serial Number OR find the correct part number for the muffler, I would be much obliged.
Thanks

Sad to say, a "Barn find" usually means a badly broken-down machine that needs lots of work or it is a parts machine.

These are not a "miracle restoration" find most of the time unless you want to spend money on them.

Not helpful - Read my last posr.

Thank you in advance for whatever information (Model Number of Muffler Part Number) you are able to provide.

Skip look at your other thread. Sometimes it take us a while on the weekends as I for one have personal things to do like buy groceries, housework, and yard work. And sometimes just to recoup from a week of repair nightmares.
