Yesterday while talking with a customer he noticed my truck tag. It had a 2019 sticker. Somehow I have forgotten to renew my tag for several years now. With all the problems caused by Covid-19 I reckon it just got caught in the mess. Boy am I embarrassed that I allow this to slip by. I going first thing this morning and get it taken care of but having to pay for three years of tags at one time hurts. At least they will let me off without a fine according to license department person I tlked to late yesterday.

Things like the above doesn't help for an old guy to start forgetting to do. I honestly thought I had done it must have gotten side tracked along the way.

Maybe things will settle down soon. I still fighting parts supply problems. At least I gotten half of the workload done so I getting finally caught up somewhat.

Lucky you still have tags.
The vegetables down here decided that they could save a few thousand by no longer issuing them.
Then 2 years latter they started fitting camera to every police vehicle to read the number plates & check if the vehicle is currently registered
And the cameras are so good they can process both side of a 6 lane expressway from a vehicle doing 80 mph.
The current generation of cameras can now recognise the profie shape of a lot of vehicles so can tell if you have switched over number plates .
Nice little money earner that one.
You can of course download an app that will tell you if your vehicle is currently taxed but if you are borrowing one or borrowing a trailer there is no way to check it's status
Plus of course the app tracks you where you are driving and will also record if you answered your mobile while in the car , yet another fine .

I actually would have appreciated it someone would just let me know that it was expired so I could taken of it sooner. I be basically paying four years; three now and again in September.

And Bert since they are no longer issuing tags (in my case a sticker, they just issuing new plates) are you allowed to make your own? And for the app I just wonder how that works when you don't a mobile phone? I haven't even had the basic flip phone since 2014. Oh I still got my old phone and use it for pictures only.

Basically what would have been spending on wages they are now spending on computers and cameras it sounds like.

Back when i had 8 different things with plates an very nice officer took the time to stop me and let me know the plates on the van had expired. The one i missed had to be the daily driver of course. That one cost me a few bucks.

We used to have stickers issued annually
They were actually part of the renewal paperwork
The RTA posted them to you and when you paid the form was printed as part of the receipt .
Dirt simple
The special pages with the sticker cost 45¢ to buy and the postage was $ 1.00
They still post the renewal notice which now costs $ 1.20 but inside there is no sticker just the preprinted form requiring the cash register inprint
The inprint is exactly the same except it is not on a removable sticker
So you see turnip head beaurocrats are not restricted to the USA.
And the no stickers is a big money spinner particularly with caravans & trailers which no one ever remembers to renew .
Down here you only get 3 months to renew then the plates are cancelled so they have to be handed back in & new ones issued .

Around here if you sign a paper saying the vehicle was not used in those years. You just pay the regular renewal. And yes that would be lying, since ya did..

& here in TN, if you have an antique & can find antique lic plate of same year, our DMV will check the plate & if clean, they can permanently assign to your antique. No more renewals.............
