Hello from Wisconsin

I own a Yard Machines Riding Mower 13AN772G729

I need to replace my battery.

I went to the MTD parts site and this is the battery that is suggested for my rider
MTD suggested battery

I would prefer to find and buy a new battery locally if I could.

I was a a Tractor Supply store yesterday as well as a Walmart and an ACE hardware but none of those place have a replacement for this particular battery

I see that some of the batteries at the above locations have "U" designations on them. IE: U1, U2. that sort of thing.
My current battery doesn't have anything like that on it and the above link doesn't indicate any information like that either.

Would anyone be able to suggest a replacement battery that might work ?

Thanks for any suggestions

those designations are the group size.This refers to the battery size that will best fit the physical dimensions & terminal locations. Usually standard lawn mower batteries are U1.
Take the old battery with you to the parts store or Tractor supply and compare. Or measure the height,length, and width of the battery and write it down. and compare it to a new batt.

Most lawnmowers take a U1 battery. The main difference between all of them is the cold cranking amps (CCA) and if the positive is on the left or right when the terminals are held toward your chest.

AutoZone here charges $18 unless you give the core. i will never forget the old battery again. O'rielly charges the same too. Not sure if it's store that sets the price or something with the State.

Last time I bought a car battery at Walmart they did as well, but they would credit the core charge if you brought the old battery back.

In my area Walmart has a $10 core charge, and Menard's is $7. Refund when old battery brought in.

Thanks for the replies

That "U" information is new to me. AND, good to know.

And I didn't even think about the "core" charge. Thanks for mentioning that as well.

Taking it in with me when I purchase a replacement sure sounds like the best thing to do.
And I thank you for that as well.

My current battery size(s):
Length = 7 3/4
Width = 5 1/4
Height = 6 1/4

And here are some pictures of it.
