I can start the tractor by pushing in the clutch and using the ignition switch. as soon as i let out the clutch the motor shuts off. i have replaced the interlock switch and the PTO switch--no luck. any ideas? :(

Interlock switch ?
you have a seat switch
You have a brake switch
You have a PTO switch

The brake switch is working because you can start the mower with the brake on.
So I would be looking at the PTO switch.

Can you engage the blades with the engine running if you keep your foot on the brake ?
If the engine stops or the PTO does not engage ( Electric PTO ) then the seat switch , or the wires to or from it are bad.

Sorry but I'm having the same problem but win I pull the pto switch blades come on and run so does this mean a bad pto switch

Start a new one
Include your mowers model number off the ID plate under the seat
The describe your exact problem
