I've been unable to find the head bolt torque for a briggs 441777-0284-E1 engine, the -0283-E1 is 160 in-lbs. are they the same? Prolly so but jus wonderin'

Yeah, I saw that but the sears repair guy say's 160 for the -0283-e1 engine...just wondering...

It is a lawnmower not a NASA space mission.
Very few tension wrenches are actually accurate at those tensions unless you are using a 6" or 8" 0 to 25 or 0 to 40 ft/lbs wrenches.
The numbers are not important on anything on your mower with the exception of the big ends where the tension controls the operating clearences.
So anything from 18 ft / lbs to 25 ft lbs in fine just so long as you do them up in sequence in 5 ft / lbs steps and they are all the same so make sure you clean the bolts
Remember 1 ft/lb = 12 "/lbs so while the numbers in inch pounds look huge, they are tiny and the range is well within the error on most uncalibrated residential grade wrenches.
Some manuals use oiled bolts ( overcomes the dirty bolt problem a little ) which will be a smaller number than a dry tension setting.
