Would appreciate a few suggestions - Looking at Kubota ZD300 series

Made my decision it will be the Kubota ZD326 w/ 60" deck, sun shade and driving lights

Yes indeed to each their own - for me the shaft drive is the way to go
I would think any good shaft drive system would have a clutch - sure would hope so anyway. Maybe even a sheer pin as my boat outdrives have, experience shows me the pin breaks before any damage.

My old Honda H4518HSA is a great machine all except the cutting deck drive system
My guess Honda subbed that out when building the riding mower / lawn tractor and that be the reason they stopped making the things year ago. The engine and tranny are great

Good choice. I have had a ZD326 with 60" deck for 5 yrs, 500 hrs and have had zero problems. I'm sure you'll enjoy your new Kubota.

WOW - what a nice machine
 
Wish I had seen this earlier have a 08 model with 1200 hours was great mower till about the 800 hour mark. The machine has since ate a gear box and cuts slower than before. Can't wait till we can get another mower.
 
That hurts, for a real lawn fanatic a zt is the last machine I would have chosen; in order of my preference-an articulated for the turf friendly ground pressure (how many heads did he say he had?), then an F series.

I have a 60" Great Dane w/26hp Kawasaki. Ahrens or somebody bought Great Dane recently and now my dealer is out of business. I love mine, but if I was buying one today, I would get a Hustler 60" w/26hp Kawasaki. It is a great machine. My neighbor has a Kubota 60" and it is not built as heavy as the Great Dane or Hustler. Another neighbor has a 72" Grasshopper w/diesel and I don't like driving it. It blows more cut grass and dirt on the driver due to deck's discharge placement.

Consider size and quality of hydralic pumps and motors. Mine are 5 years old and seem to be holding up well. Hope this helps you.
 
After a year of service from the ZD326 Kubota
I very much like the machine
50 hrs seat time in a year of operation
Actually since we have snow on the ground for 5 months of the year the 50hrs of seat time was accumulated from March through October last year
Still have 2" of snow on the ground this year

For me the Kubota was and remains the best choice
