Kohler CV15S Valve Cover Gasket

The valve cover on the CV15S does not have a gasket. The service manual says to put a 1/16" bead of gasket maker. What gasket maker do you recommend? I know permatex makes different kinds, but not sure which one to use.

Also, any tips on applying the gasket maker?
 
The Kohler gasket stuff that they use is black rtv sealant, most likely permatex. Kohler has a part number for something they call "the right stuff" in an aerosol applicator can. hope that helps

Just make sure everything is very clean and dry when using the RTV. I find most any color or brands works just fine.
