mulch fan over or under

just purchased a 10323 and the mulch fan is under the blade.Is this right?Have seen pics of mulch fan over the blade and am confused

I have the exact same mower. I get confused every time I take the blade off to sharpen it,,,lol. I believe it go's under the blade. I don't think the way it is stamped it will go above the blade. You way want to replace the locknut that holds the blade on,,,over time it will loose it's locking ability.

I believe it is just to get the grass (or leaves) to be recirculated more so it gets chopped up better and produces smaller clippings.
