I shop Ebay, also do part searchs on the web as well as well-known parts suppliers. Google is your friend. You can just ask a question on the web and get answers to repair procedures.

You're obviously very popular for those of us who need the repair manual. My RM300e is having the same problem, and I'm really frustrated. Either it's a complicated and expensive repair, or it's expensive batteries. Can you tell me what the voltage should read at the charge port when fully charged? my email is dgoodup@yahoo.com Many thanks.

I bought an old Murray 5HP Shredder from Craigslist. Guy had it running, like a fool I bought it. Got it home and I could not keep it running, only to find out gas tank is filled with rust that kept clogging the carb. No parts available online and the gas tank is integral to the carb/engine. When it runs, it runs strong. Anybody have any ideas?

Look at the numbers stamped into the starter shroud, then do a search on those numbers. Hopefully the shroud has not been changed. Parts are still available.

I am fixing up a John Deere D140 that has not been used for a year. I have replaced the following: carb, battery, deck belts, pulleys, fuel and air filters and spark plugs.
I have done a compression check, coil check and oil check. The engine runs great ...

but when I pull up on the mower switch it starts turning the blades and then shuts off the motor. I can try the switch for a few seconds and when I turn it off the motor picks back up if I don't let it die.
Need help figuring how to turn on this 48" deck....Thank you

Elkins45 you're right. Long ago they started farm tractors then switched over to kerosene after they warmed up and run all day, week after week and month after month. But, todays world wont allow that...kerosene is awful high.

A decade ago I saw a yellow plastic gallon jug of emergency fuel in Walmart that you were supposed to be able to store safely in your vehicle. The instructions said to pour it in before the engine cooled off and use it to drive to the nearest gas station. I saw it again a few months later in the clearance aisle and then never again.

i wonder if that was kerosene or something very similar?

One thing that happened to me on my Toro Z453 mower was when I purchased a new battery they gave me one that had the positive and negative termianls on the opposite side of my original battery but it fit into the holder. Well, it displayed the symptoms you discussed. I finally doing testing discovered that my connections were reversed. I turned the battery around and all was good.

Purchased Carburetor rebuild kit and installed carburetor the rebuild kit to include gaskets, spring, needle valve and associated parts. All the fuel lines and the primer bulb replaced
Trimmer still stalls after about 10 seconds. I replaced the sparkplug with a D8J, the original was a RD8J. The throttle trigger and cable are working smoothly. I've cleaned Carburetor, exhaust and spark arrestor.
