One thing that happened to me on my Toro Z453 mower was when I purchased a new battery they gave me one that had the positive and negative termianls on the opposite side of my original battery but it fit into the holder. Well, it displayed the symptoms you discussed. I finally doing testing discovered that my connections were reversed. I turned the battery around and all was good.

Trimmer still stalls after about 10 seconds. I replaced the sparkplug with a D8J, the original was a RD8J. The throttle trigger and cable are working smoothly. I've cleaned Carburetor, exhaust and spark arrestor.

I am a retired cop consultant from Georgia, with a couple of retirement jobs, including repairing and restoring project mowers.

We have a lot of people who have more yard than they have resources to buy enough mower to maintain or to hire it done. My goal is to get them something that will last three or more seasons with routine maintenance and limited repairs.

How is your T3000 working now? Were you going to pull the transmission and clean everything up to fix your reverse issue?

I think there might be something dirty or binding in your linkage.
I have a McCulloch D152 Weed trimmer. Sat for a few year, cleaned carburetor. Replaced sparkplug, fuel lines and primer bulb which were all dry rotted or brittle.
The trimmer will start, run for a few seconds then stalls. Any tips???

Thanks

Fuel starvation. Clean everything. When you're sure it's all correct from tank to carb, check bowl is filling. If all good and the fault still exists first thought is tank breather and next is stator gap/dirt. Good luck, it can be infuriating!

Did the kit provide a small screen ? make sure that screen is clean, and replace the fuel filter.
That screen catches every thing, If using compressed air you also need a tooth brush, and make sure not to blow the screen across the shop, it will never be found.
