You obviously have to stay in the residential mower market. And even with walk-behinds, most residential ones (say like this Ariens below) don't have that wide of a deck.

Ariens Walk-Behind

Here are some ZTR's that fit your budget.

You mow lawns for a living.....right??? You may want to save up a little longer and get a more durable 48" ZTR than what you will get for $3K. If thats all you have, you'll be better off looking at walk behinds(but even gear drive or hydro drive walk behinds that are 48" will run more than $3K for a heavy duty/commercial grade:0(

Yep, I thought I remembered you from other threads you've posted in. You must be doing real good at managing your money if you're ready to invest $3K back into your "business". I think you will probably be best served buying a real nice walk behind like the ones user lmf suggested(I don't know much about walk-behinds, but you should get a very nice one for that much money). And it will probably hold up much better mowing 12 lawns regularly than a $3K ZTR would. Hope you find just what you're looking for!!!!

Any 48" walk behind you will buy new for 3K is most likely going to be gear Driven and will be more than a 13 yr old can handle. There are some Homeowner model zero turn mowers out there for under 3k but I don't know how well they would handle the commercial application. If I were you and had 3k to spend I think I would consider Craiglist or Ebay and see about picking up a good commercial mower with low hours.
