New quills and idler pulleys less than 20 hours ago. Replaced everything except clutch pulley and components. Everything seems to lined up properly but belt jumps off in less than a minute. anyone have any suggestions? How much play should be in the clutch mechanism? any help will be appreciated. thanks Lyle

The clutch need a small amount of free rotation to take up some of the shock loading.
Have a close look at the tensioning pulley and the pivot of the tensioning arm.
A small amount of wear at te pivot becomes a lot of movement at the belt.
Next check the belt tension itself, all of the pulleys for flat spots and the same on the belt.

If no joy then get some one to work the mower with the deck fairly high while you watch the belt to see where it is jumping from.
Safety glasses would be a good idea when doing this

Thanks for the fast reply and the info. Found the problem today! Much simpler than I expected somehow I knocked the deck leveling adjustment out causing the belt to ride high in the idler causing it to jump off the pulley. After setting the leveling adjustment the belt stays on and I have a mowed Yard. Thanks Again Lyle
