Z5424 Mower deck wont engage.

I recently had the mower deck shut off while cutting. I reset the PTO switch and it came back on. But of course it wont work at all mow. I replaced the switch, no change. Traced back the schematic to the purple wire coming out of the ignition switch. I put a meter on it, and it's reading 2.1 volts. But on the hot side Im reading nearly 15 when running. Basic troubleshooting says bad ignition switch. Am I right? .
 
Sounds like a bad switch and the contacts are burnt inside, that does happen with age and use. I also recommend you check the PTO clutch for a high amperage draw because it is likely the root cause of the problem.
 
You should have 12 volts coming into the clutch engagement switch , if not work backwards to find out where the voltage drop is .
