If the belt has been jumping off the pulley a lot then it is buggered so get a new one .
While you are under there have a good look at the belt guide # 225 in the diagram below
These can get bent so in place of guiding the belt onto the pulley , they guide the belt off the pulley.
Yours looks a bit funny in your photo.
Also check the pulleys # 50 & # 52.
They should all spin freely smoothly & quietly, if not replace them
Next have a good look at the bush # 186 and the hole in the plate # 189 that runs on it.
The bush flogs out over time then wears the hole in the plate oval allowing the belt to tip & twist.

I find it soooo much easier to work on these if I stand the mower vertical as everything is there in front of you,
You can also work in a comfortable position and nothing falls off on your face.
Take plenty of photos before you remove anything and don't hesitate to ask.
