My 1st post, so please be understanding. I have a Yardman 604H I purchased in 2005. I recently removed the deck per manual instructions. There was no mention of removing any springs, but I notice a spring (approx. 3/4" an inch long) stretching when I dropped the deck to the garage floor. I foolishly tugged on the deck and the end of the spring snapped at one end. Then after I pulled out the deck and removed the rest of the spring I could see where it attached on the underside of the tractor. There is a bolt that attaches to the frame. I lost the broken piece of the spring but remember it had a flat piece with an eyelet that can go on a bolt to connect it to the deck near the right side pulley cover. I emailed MTD, but their reply was "There are no springs on the unit which attach to the cutting deck and frame. We believe the spring being reference would connect to the engagement plate assembly. " I double checked and found the bolt. I took pics of it (see attached).
Does anyone have any ideas?
thnx
