I have now had 3 instances where the deck belt fails on this lawn tractor. JD dealer says they fix it, check spindles and pulleys each time and say it's OK. Any thoughts to avoid #4?
Not without a lot more information.
Belts can fail in a dozen different ways for a dozen different reasons.
The key is the dead belt.
Careful examination of it will tell you why it failed and once you know that you can look at what would cause that particular type of failure.
Otherwise you are going to spend big dollars shooting in the dark.
All of the major belt makers have belt failure guides I think all of the after market belt suppliers have on on their web site.
Toro has one on theirs and Husqvarna put out one I found on line a few years back.
