looking for new or used Murray / MTD / Craftsman edger quill in working condition. These typically break the weld and get replaced, but the part is NLA and not available. If in reasonable condition the part can be welded. Or maybe someone has an edger that is dead and not worth repairing but the quill is good. Typically if one looks at the parts diagram for the edger, part #321 will show as a 338070, 338070ma, 740039, or 740039ma. If you have one or think you do please snap a photo and send me a PM or a post with what you want. To remove then the old belt gets cut off, a nut gets removed from the lever that goes thru the quill shaft, the end of a tension spring slides out and the quill pulls off. It is a really common part on edgers made in the 1990's.

Thanks - Steve

A year later and still looking. Found a fellow with a running edger last night that has that part for $70 if he still has it today but I'd feel guilty stripping down a good running edger for just that part. I have no space to store the whole edger until I need it.

Mid july 2023 still looking for one. 338070MA or 740039MA will show as part #321 on fiche for edger. Pictures in first post. Possibly someone might come across one with broken welds that the edger has been scrapped because of it. I can take the part with broken welds and have my welding guy make it better than new. If you think you have one just post the model number of the edger and I will research it to save you time. Comes off pretty easy.
