Worth It To Hydro Seed?

I have about a half acre of open field on a slight slope that I got tilled up as my last project of the season. I want it to grow in quickly, because it'll be a colassal mess if I don't. Would it be worth it to pay someone and hydro seed it, or can I do just as well on my own?

I would think you are too late in the season (this year) for either..
Next spring, you should have good luck seeding it and watering as needed... hydro seed is nice but a bit pricey, you will still have to water it in... :smile:KennyV

I agree with kenny i think your too late for this lawn care season to seed? unless your in florida arizona or somewhere warm? seeding is good if you put it down good, But hydro seed when they spray they put a good starter lawn fertilization in with it and it sticks to the dirt so it wont blow away as easy as the regular seed.. but regardless what ever you do be sure to water even with no puddles and pull the weeds so they dont reseed and take over your new grass..

I'll be in a similar situation wih my property in the coming spring. I am inclined to hire someone to just do it, as I will be up to my eye brows in other stuff.

I believe the two posters have given the best advice. Hydro seeding is beneficial, if you want your lawn really beautiful in such a short time but perhaps wait till the time is ripe.
