Wont run

I have a 17.5 horse mower that im not getting gas to carb. Put on new fuel pump blew out gas line from tank and checked small hole in fuel cap. Have to pour gas into carb to start but wont stay running. Whats next? I need help.

Remove the float bowl.
If the bowl is full of fuel then the solenoid in the float bowl if not retracting .
Check that you are getting voltage to the plug .
Usually you can soak the solenoid in carb cleaner , WD 40 or similar and work the plunger till you get the crud that is making it stick out .
OR you can chop off the plunger which is ILLEGAL in many places & has big fines for doing so.
It will also cause the mower to backfire through the exhaust when shut down

OR you can replace it but is it worth 3 cases of beer ?

I AGREE IT MAY BE THE FUEL SOLENOID. i HAD A 18 HP BS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. pUT A NEW CARB ON IT AND IT WAS THE SAME. ENDED UP TO BE THE CONTACT ON THE END OF THE SOLENOID. CUT ONE OFF AN OLD MOWER AND SPLICED IT ON AND IT RUNS GREAT
