Won't restart after safety shutdown

ZG332 gas mower. starts and runs fine until mower stops due to safety stop (seat switch activated or parking brake on when arms activated).
Mower will not restart and no fire at the plugs. Let sit for 1/2 hour and fires right up.
Any ideas?
 
So if I understand you right, it spins over after it stops but will not fire, after 30 min or so it cranks off with no problems , If it was a safety switch it wouldn't spin at all , It however could be a low oil level safety which will not let it start, after sitting for a time , the oil drains back into the sump and resets the low oil level kill .
this would be my guess

Welcome to the forum.

I try to help when I can, but we need the following:

We need the manufacturer identification number off the machine chassis label along with the engine identification information.

There is way too many different designs to start guessing what the problem(s) can be.
 
I appreciate the feedback.
It does indeed spin but does not fire. if I shutdown the engine (key off) it does start right back up.



checked the oil, level was ok.

I suggest you access the key start switch and try disconnecting and reconnecting the connectors, then try it and see what happens.

The key switches do wear the contacts and will get hot, so they go open until they cool down.

If the engine has a low oil sensor, they are a common problem as well. They ground the ignition coil circuit to prevent firing.
 
Pardon my ignorance, but if the engine is still turning over but not firing, i don't understand the key switch suggestion,

When the key switch is turned to off, it grounds the ignition coils so they cannot fire. When these switches wear with age, the contacts inside become displaced with heat. Once cooled down, thing seem to go back to normal until the next time it happens.

The other issue to determine is if this engine has a low oil shutoff protection. The oil level sensors fail fairly often. It was a good concept on paper, but not really practical in real world conditions when age and weather exposure are factored in.
