Just purchased new intek 19 hp to replace kohler On toro zmaster 400.
Kohler had oil pressure switch, new Briggs does not.
new Briggs has carb soleniod, kohler did not.

Pic of Briggs wiring (red, orange, black, gray)
Red/orange - voltage reg?
Black - coil/plug
Gray - carb soleniod



Plug from mower (blue wire, white wire, pink wire)



Blue wire from mower plug went to kohler voltage regulator
White wire from mower plug went to kohler coil.
Pink wire from mower, no other wire on kohler plug.

Thoughts on how to connect this engine to the mower?

For carb soleniod, does it simply need power to it to allow carb to function?

Ok, here is what I think is correct.

The RED and Orange wires coming from the engine voltage regulator are to feed back the AC current for charging and accessories.
I will be connecting the red wire from the engine voltage regulator to the violet wire from the mower (this feeds the ignition switch charging circuit).
Not connecting anything to the orange wire (maybe I will add a light in the future).
The Black wire is for the coil.
The gray wire, for the carb soleniod will be connected to the battery side of the starter soleniod, as it needs power to trip open prior to starting and during operation.

The wire from the mower switch to the oil pressure switch (not existing on new engine) will be run to ground.

Anyone see anything blatantly in error with this plan?

Yes,
The gray wire needs to be switched.
Hook it up to a full time powered wire and you will burn it out and flatten the battery.
You can hook it up to the DC ( check it ) red output from the stator, the Orange one should be AC so it is for lights only.
On the briggs web site is a PDF called the "Repower Guide"
In the back of it are a stack of generic mower wiring diagrams covering all of the variations

Thanks, good catch on the carb solenoid being switched.
Just waiting on my starter solenoid to show up and Ill get it back together.

Ended up taking the carb solenoid to the power in side of the Hour Meter.

Running like a top.
